Taylor Swift Releases “Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version)"
Taylor Swift
definitely has an endless, magical, Mary Poppins-esque bag of surprises.
On Friday, September 17, the singer-songwriter caught fans off guard with an unexpected drop of a re-recorded song — and it wasn’t one of the 30 (!!) tracks from the upcoming release of Red (Taylor’s Version). Nope, Taylor decided to share the updated version of “Wildest Dreams,” which is one of the songs from 1989, her fifth studio album originally released in 2014.
“Hi! Saw you guys got Wildest Dreams trending on TikTok, thought you should have my version,” Taylor wrote on Twitter, along with a flurry of kissing emojis. Her tweet refers to a growing TikTok trend where users lip sync along with the song’s bridge — “See me in hindsight / tangled up with you all night” — while using the app’s slow zoom feature.

Taylor even indicated as much in a TikTok of her own on Thursday, when she shared a tiny clip of the track. “If you guys want to use my version of wildest dreams for the slow zoom trend, here it is! Felt cute, might drop the whole song later,” she teased in the caption.
After releasing the full track, Taylor returned to TikTok making a joke about the Red / 1989 lineup. “You set a date in November with Red but then someone mentions 1989,” she wrote over a video of herself painting her nails red. The video then cuts to Taylor in a very 1989-era ‘fit, complete with those iconic sunglasses and — of course — a “classic” red lip.
Needless to say, the drop sent Swifties into a tailspin as fans tried to parse the order of announcements and search for clues and easter eggs. One Swiftie took notice of the strange “glitch” in the middle of Taylor’s most recent TikTok, positing that the effect could mean that the two eras are meant to overlap. My brain hurts just thinking about it!

the fact that the glitch happens during “tangled up with you” means that red and 1989 are going to be tangled up in somehow plus she will be having the same style in both albums “bangs” “red lipstick” pic.twitter.com/AWQPqzBv7K
